Oasis Class Ship Review: Our Family Adventure on Oasis & Friends’ Getaway on Symphony

If you’ve ever wondered whether a mega-ship can truly make everyone happy—from toddlers to grandparents to girlfriends looking for a fun escape—the answer (at least in our experience) is a big, enthusiastic yes. After sailing on two Oasis Class ships with very different travel styles, I can confidently say: Royal Caribbean absolutely nails entertainment and variety.

Here’s my personal take after:

  • An 8-day August 2025 family sailing (family of 8!) on Oasis of the Seas

  • A November 2025 adults’ getaway with a friend on Symphony of the Seas

Why the Oasis Class Works for Everyone

The Oasis Class ships feel less like cruise ships and more like floating destinations. Multiple “neighborhoods,” endless dining options, thrill rides, pools, shows, and quiet corners somehow coexist without feeling chaotic.

What stood out most on both sailings:

  • You can be busy all day or do absolutely nothing

  • Kids, teens, adults, and grandparents all found their thing

  • Even with thousands of passengers onboard, it never felt overwhelming if you planned smartly

Oasis of the Seas | August 2025 | Family of 8

Sailing with a big family can be… a lot. Different ages, interests, energy levels—and expectations. Oasis of the Seas handled it beautifully.

What We Loved

  • Something for every age group

    • Kids loved the pools, slides, and Boardwalk vibe

    • Teens had their own hangouts and activities

    • Adults enjoyed specialty dining, shows, and quieter spaces

  • The Aqua Show – hands down a showstopper
The high-diving, acrobatics, and night-time atmosphere at the AquaTheater were jaw-dropping. Even the hardest-to-impress family members were blown away.

  • Broadway show: Cats
A classic, and surprisingly perfect for a multi-generational group. Easy to follow, visually impressive, and a great introduction to Broadway-style entertainment for kids.

Family-Friendly Win

With an 8-day itinerary in peak summer, the ship never felt repetitive. We could split up during the day and reconnect at dinner or shows—huge win for a group this size.

Symphony of the Seas | November 2025 | Friends’ Getaway

Same class of ship, totally different vibe—and that’s the magic.

Traveling with a friend meant:

  • Slower mornings

  • More cocktails

  • Late nights and shows we actually stayed awake for 😄

Highlights

  • Broadway show: Hairspray
Absolute favorite. High energy, funny, feel-good, and incredibly well done. Honestly, I’d see it again.

  • Refined feel
Symphony felt a touch more polished and modern, which fit an adults-focused trip perfectly.

  • Entertainment depth
From ice skating shows to live music and comedy, Royal Caribbean consistently delivers production quality you wouldn’t expect at sea.

Entertainment: Royal Caribbean’s Secret Weapon

If there’s one thing Royal Caribbean does exceptionally well, it’s entertainment.

Across both ships:

  • Broadway-caliber productions

  • High-diving Aqua shows unique to Oasis Class

  • Ice shows, live bands, comedians, themed nightlife

It’s not filler entertainment—it’s destination-worthy.
